About the role

The Packaging Operator I role is an entry-level production role at the Mt. Vernon facility assisting the manufacturing process for insulation. This role is responsible for packaging, cleaning, and relieving team members for breaks. Employees will cross-train in three key areas – packaging, shipping/receiving, and quality. Once certified in all three areas, will qualify for POP II.

Responsibilities

  • Spot out-bound trucks into material load docks, ensuring dock-locks
  • Reclaim off-quality Unbonded Loosefill and re-feed the material to the former
  • Place bags on bagger equipment snouts to ensure proper packaging of finished goods material
  • Perform general cleanup duties in designated areas (including, but not limited to, sweeping floors, blowing down the line/robot, cleaning break rooms, etc.)
  • Assist with preventative maintenance processes
  • Perform special needs as determined by plant staff
  • Participate in safety and housekeeping programs as established within the plant
  • Train on how to properly test quality checks according to specifications and shipping/receiving
  • Provide coverage for team members and attend required meetings outside of normal scheduled days as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must show proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must successfully pass WorkKeys assessment

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations

Pay

  • Day Shift: $21.50 per hour
  • Night Shift: $23.00 per hour
  • After 90-day probationary period and certification as POP II, receive an additional $1 per hour

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (times are approximate)
  • 2, 2, 3-day rotation
