Packaging Machine Operator I - 1st Shift

About the role
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient set-up, inspection and operation of equipment/machinery utilized in the processing of meat products. Additionally, responsible for following standard operating procedures, including but not limited to, completing production-related paperwork and meeting product specifications.
Responsibilities
- Operate meat cutting/packaging machines and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer.
- Perform essential production tasks and support coworkers to maintain a safe and efficient production line.
- Follow oral and written instructions, including standard operating procedures.
- Complete production-related paperwork and ensure products meet specifications.
- Work scheduled shifts and overtime as required by production demands.
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Willing and able to perform the following physical demands:
- Stand on concrete/platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
- Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
- Work with a knife (if trained).
- Work in cold (20-40°F) and/or warm (over 100°F) areas.
- Work in wet, humid, and noisy environments while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
- Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals and strong smells/odors.
- Climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms.
- Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
- Walk long distances.
- Perform continuous/repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
- Lift up to 30 lbs repetitively overhead and up to 60 lbs with mechanical assistance.
- Technical knowledge of computerized equipment.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Certification may be required to operate specific equipment.
