About the role
This individual is responsible for packaging productions in appropriate bags with correct sell-by dates at a rate that is profitable and efficient to meet department and company standards. The role involves setting up and operating machinery in a safe manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks as described and assigned by the department Supervisor.
- Work in a safe manner and ensure product specifications are attained.
- Perform job assignments in a cost-conscious manner.
- Strive to satisfy the requirements of internal and external customers.
- Be at the workstation on time each workday.
- Work as a team player and communicate with other department members.
- Be flexible regarding various job assignments and working conditions.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, plant rules, and policies.
- Pick up 16 pounds repetitively.
- Install, remove, clean, and re-tape seal bars.
- Straighten and align each bag on the seal bar.
- Keep pace with the production line.
- Adjust line speed for various products.
- Lubricate the 8600 machine as needed.
- Start and stop the 8600 machine.
- Assist with set-up, tear-down, and put-away.
- Report problems with equipment to the Supervisor or Lead Person.
- Maintain responsibility for the 8600 machine.
- Monitor correct and legible sell-by dates on products.
Qualifications
- Less than high school education; or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
