About the role

The Packaging Shift Lead will supervise a team in various packaging functions, operating the bottle filler, canning line, and kegger, as well as directing CIPs and preventative maintenance. This role is responsible for managing daily operations of the assigned packaging line, including staffing and team supervision, and making decisions that aid in efficient, quality production of products. The Shift Lead will coordinate day-to-day work with the Packaging Management Team, follow safety brewery guidelines, SOPs, and cleaning procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Redzone is properly utilized during the shift; verify Packaging Quality Control (PQC) checks are completed and reason codes are accurately documented.
  • Drive team accountability and foster a culture of ownership and performance.
  • Submit detailed and accurate end-of-shift reports.
  • Conduct SIM 1 meetings and actively participate in SIM 2 meetings (Short Interval Meetings).
  • Escalate unresolved or urgent issues to the Supervisor promptly.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal line speeds to meet production targets.
  • Ensure sanitation tasks are completed per the Master Sanitation Schedule and properly documented.
  • Enforce adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); recommend updates and improvements as needed.
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Confirm correct packaging mix and materials for current and upcoming production runs based on BBT volume prior to kegging/filling.
  • Maintain an up-to-date overview of all BBTs to facilitate smooth information transfer across shifts.
  • Identify training needs and assign tasks to team members accordingly.
  • Develop or revise SOPs linked to the master training matrix and communicate changes to the Packaging Manager.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify maintenance needs and submit timely work orders.
  • Ensure completion of daily, weekly, and monthly operational tasks in alignment with shift requirements.
  • Create and submit a comprehensive shift report at the end of each shift.
  • Supervise a team of 5–7 packaging employees, providing guidance and support.
  • Delegate tasks effectively during production downtime to maximize productivity.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with machinery and equipment as needed to maintain workflow.
  • Complete packaging release targets, including sterile sample collection and taking measurements of O2/CO2 using the Gehaltemeter or C-Box as determined by the training matrix.
  • Operate a forklift for movement of raw goods (cans, bottles) and finished goods (cases, trays, kegs).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach repetitively.
  • Maintain confidentiality with business-related information.
  • Flexibility with working hours.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Brewery or beverage experience is a plus.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

$35.75 hourly

Schedule

Weekend night shift: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
