Packaging Equipment Operator

About the role

This is a full-time, rotating 12-hour shift position. The hourly wage is $25.10 for night shifts and $23.10 for day shifts, with a hiring bonus of $1,250.

Responsibilities

• Global operation of various packaging machines including automatic case packers, display wrap applicators, labelers, coding equipment, automatic cappers, straw applicators, plastic sleeve applicators and other associated equipment.
• Periodic operations of automatic and manual palletizing of finished goods cases.
• Prepares and supplies the packaging equipment to begin production by ensuring each piece of equipment is functioning properly and that the boxes will properly go through the equipment.
• Maintains the performance of the coders to ensure packages are properly coded and changes the code as needed.
• Maintains the flow of product through the packaging equipment and takes prompt action to correct any issues.
• Promptly notifies supervisors and maintenance mechanics if equipment malfunctions.
• Maintains the quality of the packaged product and packaging materials.
• Completes paperwork related to packaging equipment operation, such as usage reports, loss reports, and downtime logs.
• Performs light housekeeping duties during the operation of packaging equipment lines.
• Performs lifting and carrying tasks, including opening and installing display wraps, stacking boxes, and lifting finished goods onto pallets.
• Clears jammed equipment using pushing, pulling, grasping, and sometimes bending or stooping.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience preferred.
• Employee must be able to operate any of the lines in any position except for filling machines.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings including drug, background, and criminal checks.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical tasks involving lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring reaching, bending, stooping, and occasional kneeling.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring pushing, pulling, grasping, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring pushing, pulling, grasping, and occasionally lifting up to 28.2 pounds.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring pushing, pulling, grasping, and occasionally lifting up to 19.7 pounds per minute.
