About the Role
Springs Window Fashions is looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to join our Operations Team as a Packaging Engineering Intern. This paid internship provides an exciting opportunity to assist with project support while gaining valuable work experience related to your field of study. The program is known for in-depth, challenging project work with cross-functional teams, professional development, job shadowing, and other growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Support product line launches and maintenance by creating models and prototypes to specifications determined by Packaging Engineering.
- Perform packaging tests to validate package designs, including standardized distribution tests and material performance tests.
- Create Packaging Assembly Specifications and packaging component specifications for new design changes.
- Assist with quality projects and plant-initiated projects related to packaging.
- Research current packaging materials for recycled content and recyclability, and explore potential sustainable alternatives.
- Perform preliminary testing of alternate materials.
- Conduct a Packaging Data Logger Study to gather data on hazards (shock, drop, vibration, temperature, humidity) experienced by each product line.
- Analyze outputs of current lab testing capabilities and perform ship tests for quality-related issues as needed.
- Support cost savings and value creation initiatives by evaluating materials for equivalence, creating test plans, and performing packaging tests.
- Write test reports and update/create part specifications.
Requirements
- Pursuing a 4-year degree with preferred current standing of Sophomore/Junior level.
- Packaging Engineering major preferred.
- Previous internship experience in a relevant function is a plus.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and attention to detail).
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
