Packaging Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative packaging solutions for new and existing products, considering material properties, manufacturing processes, and shipping requirements.
• Conduct packaging material selection, testing, and qualification to meet performance, cost, and environmental objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing to integrate packaging into the overall product development lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain packaging specifications, BOMs (Bills of Material), and other relevant documentation.
• Perform root cause analysis of packaging-related issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Optimize packaging designs for cost reduction, improved efficiency, and reduced environmental impact.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new materials, and technologies in packaging and apply relevant advancements.
• Evaluate and approve packaging designs from suppliers and ensure adherence to Jabil standards.
• Participate in supplier selection and qualification processes for packaging materials and services.
• Support sustainability initiatives by identifying opportunities for eco-friendly packaging solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging engineering or a related field.
• Experience with material science, manufacturing processes, and packaging design.
• Strong understanding of sustainability principles and practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Skills

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for packaging design.
• Knowledge of packaging regulations and compliance.
• Experience with sustainability metrics and reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The hourly pay range for this role is $16.00 - $32.00. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
