About the Role

As the Packaging and Transportation Manager at Centrus Energy, you’ll lead the packaging, shipping, and delivery of hazardous materials, classified shipments, and other critical cargo—ensuring safety, security, and full compliance with domestic and international regulations. You’ll balance safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while managing a team and maintaining operational continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of packaging and transportation, including scheduling shipments, selecting carriers, auditing processes, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Manage specialized programs for classified and nuclear materials, ensuring compliance with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles for radioactive transport.
  • Maintain full compliance with DOE, DOT, NRC, and international shipping standards.
  • Set clear expectations, mentor team members, and exercise authority to halt work when safety or compliance is at risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, physical sciences, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team-player mindset.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a “Q” security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of NRC, DOT, EPA, and DOE transportation and packaging regulations.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments (NRC, DOE, DOT, FAA, etc.).
  • Familiarity with import/export requirements for nuclear, sensitive, and non-nuclear materials.
  • Experience managing teams in complex, high-stakes environments.
  • Currently holding an active Q-level security clearance (preferred).

This position requires verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States, a pre-employment background check, and a pre-employment drug test. Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance must pass a drug test as defined in 10 CFR 707.4. Employees will also be subject to random drug testing and may be tested after incidents involving injury or property damage, or if reasonable suspicion of drug/alcohol influence arises. A federal background investigation is required for Q security clearance, with potential reinvestigations thereafter.
