Packager Operator Days - Norwich, NY
Our Norwich, NY location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and one of our specialty sites that creates proteins, lactose, coatings, and flavors. The location lies within Chenango County and is advantageously located within a 50-mile radius of the major cities of Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Cooperstown and Oneonta.
About the role
The Packaging Operator is responsible for packaging hydrolyzed protein batches according to requirements under the direction of the Department Supervisor and/or Shift Group Leader.
Responsibilities
- Package hydrolysate batches efficiently while maintaining quality and packaging appearance.
- Oversee issuing finished product labels and sample labels.
- Take in-process samples and any additional samples requested from sample room or quality.
- Know and use proper maintenance and cleaning procedures for packaging equipment.
- Set up packager correctly for batches, including examining screens, ensuring correct tare weight, and verifying package material.
- Maintain area cleanliness and orderliness.
- Operate forklift truck safely and use proper safety measures.
- Run packaging system and communicate with dryer operator to adjust speeds if necessary.
- Lift 55 lb. bags or boxes once per minute.
- Complete documentation in Master Batch Record, SAP, logbooks, and other required documentation clearly and accurately.
- Complete all SAP transactions to ensure accurate inventory of packaging materials.
- Demonstrate leadership in safety by observing and enforcing safety rules, encouraging safe work behaviors, and correcting unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Handle hazardous waste (internal training provided).
Requirements
- Good working knowledge of arithmetic and confidence in its use.

- Ability to adjust work schedule to department requirements, including occasional overtime.

Pay
$21.00 per hour.
Schedule
Rotating 12-hour shifts from 7:15 AM – 7:45 PM, following a 3 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off pattern with every other weekend off. Overtime eligible.
