The Opportunity
Provide technical leadership for the planning, design, and delivery of complex bridge projects, including serving as Engineer of Record.
Lead and oversee multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring technical excellence, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Identify staffing needs and actively engage in recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and professional development of team members.
Provide project oversight for scope, schedule, budget, and resources to achieve project, revenue, and profitability objectives.
Monitor project progress, risks, milestones, and deliverables, proactively addressing issues to ensure successful outcomes.
Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, quality standards, and client expectations.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Support business development activities, including proposal strategy, preparation, and interviews.
Collaborate with project managers and regional leadership to position the bridges practice for future work.
Represent Arup through participation in relevant professional and industry organizations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with 12+ years of experience delivering complex bridge or infrastructure projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
PE required, WA SE preferred.
Experience with design-build and alternative delivery methods, including CM/GC and Progressive Design- Build.
Strong technical background in bridge structures, such as rail bridges, segmental bridges, curved girders, long spans, and bridges in high-seismic regions.
Proven experience leading design teams and technical workstreams, with understanding of client capital programs, procurement strategies, and delivery models.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and provide leadership in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, partners, and multidisciplinary teams.
Pay
Seattle Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Seattle is $160,000 to $180,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary.
