About the role
The Hawaii State Department of Education seeks to hire a Literacy Coach to support educators in enhancing reading and writing instruction across the state.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional development workshops and training sessions focused on literacy strategies and best practices.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on classroom instruction to improve student literacy outcomes.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement district-wide literacy initiatives.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of literacy curriculum and resources.
- Mentor and support new and veteran teachers in their literacy instruction.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
- Active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements within 3 years of employment.
Qualifications
- Experience in education, preferably in a K-12 setting.
- Strong understanding of literacy pedagogy and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of current research and trends in literacy education.

Pay
New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Paydays are on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a 10-month work year.
