PA or CRNP (ACNP), Senior - Nights - HVI Cardiothoracic Surgery
About the role
The Overnight Advanced Practice Provider will manage thoracic patients overnight with responsibilities including answering calls, managing patient care, responding to codes, assisting in the OR, seeing pending consults, completing H&P, communicating plans, and providing overnight updates.
Responsibilities
- Answer calls from nursing and other services with management requests and respond appropriately to advance patient care
- Complete interventions started during the daytime that need additional management
- Respond to any codes involving thoracic surgery patients
- Assist in the OR for urgent overnight surgical cases
- See and appropriately staff all pending consults
- Complete thoracic patient admissions
- Perform H&P, enter orders, communicate plan to nursing, medical and surgical teams
- Communicate overnight updates to the on-call physician, the daytime APP and trainee team in the morning
Requirements
Must have completed an approved nurse practitioner program or physician assistant program accredited by the ARC-PA, current state licenses, and relevant certifications.

- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
- Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs
- Provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures
Skills
Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families
