PA/NP - Supervisor Surgery

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in the selection and evaluation of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in the Department.
• Oversees the training of all new Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants on clinical protocols and procedures.
• Defines job expectations and monitors productivity.
• Develops and implements competencies for Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants with assistance from the Lead APN/PAs where applicable.
• Schedules and assigns Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants to maintain appropriate staffing and coverage.
• Manages other APNs and PAs in the department including, but not limited to, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, providing timely feedback and support, and ensuring appropriate utilization of APN/PA's throughout the hospital.
• Oversees daily departmental operations, works closely with the APNs/PAs in the department and acts as a liaison between the APPs, surgeons and hospital leadership.
• Contributes and is held accountable to the budgetary process. Performs administrative duties in all areas of the department when necessary.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved physician’s assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.
• Master’s degree.
• Completion of Institution required Manager training.
• Maintains PA delineation of clinical privileges for surgery via annual review.
• Advance Practice Nurse License or Physician Assistant License.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
