About the role

As an important member of the Medical Intensive Care multidisciplinary team, you would be diagnosing and treating medically complex patients. The ideal candidate would be passionate about this patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Managing critically ill patients and coordinating the services provided by multiple disciplines.
  • Exercising independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of selected protocols/procedures.
  • Providing educational support for patients/significant others, health team members, and the community.
  • Completing H&P, consults, admissions, rounding, and procedures.
  • Multidisciplinary rounds, admissions, consults, procedures (arterial lines, central lines, intubations, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar punctures, dialysis catheters), code response team, care conferences (Palliative or end of life).

Requirements

  • Required Master's Degree for Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - State of Michigan or LIC-Physician Assistant (PA) - State of Michigan.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS), CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), CRT-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Physician Assistant: Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills.

Hours Worked: 7 - 12 hour shifts every two weeks. Every other weekend. Night shifts: 6p-6a. Swing shifts: 4p-12a.
