About the role

In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of excellence established in 1886, support our food safety programs, and ensure the reliable delivery of superior quality, uniformity, and service. You will process, transfer, pack, load, ship, and receive all inbound and outbound materials while maintaining sanitation to ensure safety, food safety, and an infestation-free facility. This position upholds the Mission, Motto, and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, and company sanitation guidelines.
  • Attend all required training sessions and maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit-ready condition.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety rules, plant safety rules, and GMPs.
  • Complete general sanitation tasks such as blowing-down, vacuuming, mopping, and washing.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs, including packer changeovers and inspecting yard tractors/forklifts.
  • Transfer, pack, load, and unload flour and feed products using necessary equipment, including forklifts.
  • Load bulk and bag flour trucks and rail cars.
  • Complete documentation as required.
  • Operate forklifts daily.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Experience in flour milling, food processing, or related manufacturing (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Previous truck driving experience and a CDL (preferred).
  • Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and perform duties while wearing a respirator.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, Intranet, and other computer software for essential duties.

Skills

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions, procedures, and plans.
  • Ability to write, complete checklists, and other basic documentation.
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Strong judgment and ability to adapt to changing work duties.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands for maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with moving equipment and machinery.
  • Exposure to dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and around airborne particles.
  • Noise levels typically require hearing protection.
  • Exposure to common wheat allergens.

Primary work shift is as assigned, with overtime required as needed.
