P.E. Instructor (Part-time)

About the role

A P.E. Instructor is an entry-level support individual contributor who helps facilitate quality experiences for missionaries during scheduled gym times under the guidelines and protocols established by the Gym Manager and MTC Administration.

Responsibilities

• Reports to a manager in the operations department
• Oversees P.E. classes in the gym and on the MTC athletic field
• Handles and maintains gym equipment
• Ensures a safe environment for participating missionaries
• Facilitates quality experiences for all missionaries
• Conducts weekly New Missionary Gym Orientations
• Manages inventory control
• Uses the Missionary Health Guide to advise missionaries on fitness and weight management
• Coordinates with MTC security regarding safety and emergency issues
• May include other temporary assigned duties at the MTC (e.g., assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar)

Requirements

• Ability to handle large groups
• Ability to provide discipline with love and compassion
• Basic knowledge of sports
• Interest in athletics and fitness
• Ability to minimize stressful situations
• Ability to foster missionary-appropriate behavior in a gym environment
• Physical ability to stand, walk, run, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform movements for extended periods of time

Qualifications

• Experience in gym/fitness instruction, coaching, athletics, or other physical activity (preferred)
• Returned missionary with CPR/AED certification (preferred)

Schedule

Two shifts are available:

• Morning Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM
• Evening 2 Shift: Wednesday and Friday, 5:00 PM – 8:50 PM, and Saturday, 6:30 AM – 1:45 PM
