Job Summary

A P&C (Property and Casualty) Property Examiner investigates and evaluates claims related to property damage or liability. They assess coverage, liability, and the extent of damage, ensuring claims are handled according to company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review policy documents, supporting documentation, and other relevant information to determine coverage and liability
  • Assess the extent of damage and potential loss, often using property damage estimates
  • Ensure that claims are handled according to company policies, procedures, and regulations, and that there are no fraudulent claims
  • Interact with policyholders, adjusters, and other professionals involved in the claim process
  • Collaborate with adjusters and internal teams (this role does not settle claims)

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or equivalent; BS Degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in property and casualty insurance claims examination is preferred
  • Possess necessary insurance company certifications; Associate in Claims (AIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) a plus
  • Licensed in state of residence (if required) and/or other state(s) (if required)
  • Excellent analytical skills to review claims, identify potential issues, and determine appropriate next steps
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a virtual environment
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, claims processes, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Xactimate expertise

Experience Requirements (Property Examiner Focus Areas)

  • We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas: Daily Property Claims, Catastrophe (CAT) Property Claims, Flood Claims, including Commercial and Private Flood

Special Requirements

  • Must possess a laptop computer with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Cell phone with text messaging, internet, and email
