Ozark Center - Will's Place / Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

About the Role

This position is for Will's Place, providing behavioral health services for individuals up to age 25. The Advance Practice Nurse (APN) delivers psychiatric care to patients, focusing on those impacted by behavioral health issues such as addiction, substance abuse, and mental health challenges. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, ensuring services are provided in a sensitive, responsive environment that prevents further trauma. The APN operates under a collaborative agreement with a Center psychiatrist and reports administratively to the Director of Adult Psychiatric Practices.

Responsibilities

• Interprets and evaluates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Administers, dispenses, and prescribes drugs and provides treatment within the APN’s scope of practice, consistent with skills, training, and competence.
• May administer and dispense controlled substances on a case-by-case basis, consistent with the collaborative agreement with the Center psychiatrist.
• Provides triage for telephone calls and offers consultation.
• Delivers counseling and instruction regarding patient problems.
• Completes all clinical documentation in a timely fashion as prescribed by policy and procedure.
• Provides monitoring and continuity of care between patient visits.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Consults with or refers patients to the collaborating physician when conditions exceed the APN’s education, training, competency, or scope of practice.
• Discusses all significantly abnormal lab and EKG results with the physician.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Works in a normal office environment.
• Typical demands include prolonged sitting, frequent standing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting.
• Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, telephone, photocopier, calculator, and other office equipment.
• Must remain calm during stressful events, occasionally work irregular hours, and interact with exasperated individuals.
• Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds.
• TB test required upon hire.
