Responsibilities
- Interprets and evaluates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Administers, dispenses, and prescribes drugs and provides treatment within the APN’s scope of practice and consistent with the APN’s skills, training, and competence.
- May administer and dispense controlled substances on a case-by-case basis consistent with collaborative agreement with Center psychiatrist.
- Participates in the delivery of psychiatric care within a mobile mental health unit serving rural and underserved communities.
- Provides services in non-traditional settings including schools, community centers, and remote locations, utilizing telehealth and mobile technology.
- Supports Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) protocols in collaboration with waivered psychiatrists.
- Ensures trauma-informed, culturally competent care in mobile environments, adapting to diverse client needs and settings.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary mobile team members to ensure continuity of care and efficient service delivery.
- Utilizes mobile unit equipment and technology including secure digital records, e-prescription tools, and telehealth platforms.
- Completes all clinical documentation in a timely fashion as prescribed in policy and procedure.
- Monitors and provides continuity of care between patient visits.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Consults with or refers patients to collaborating physicians when necessary.
- Discusses significantly abnormal lab and EKG results with the physician.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Eligible for or active licensure in the State of Missouri.
