Overseas Supply Chain Quality Manager - Cabin

This position is responsible for various program suppliers and is accountable for ensuring on-time delivery and quality of cabin equipment (Monuments, Floor to Floor, IFE, seats, etc. work packages) for Airbus Aircrafts. The Overseas Supply Chain Quality Manager maintains daily contact with suppliers and internal customers (located in the US and Europe), leveraging expertise in Quality Management and strong relationship-building skills to problem-solve and proactively mitigate Supply Chain issues. The role requires a high level of autonomy and excellent soft skills, including communication.

Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain and Quality Management (70%):
    • Work on-site at either the allocated supplier site or in an Airbus office a minimum of 3 days per week.
    • Ensure maturity and robustness of Cabin Supplier’s manufacturing and supply chain processes to avoid supply failures.
    • Utilize best practices and quality management techniques to continuously improve Supply Chain-related performance for deliveries of supplied products.
    • Assess supplier capacity and capability to secure ramp-up periods and Airbus industrial objectives (e.g., major planning changes, ramp-down).
    • Monitor and analyze performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and organize supplier surveillance via audits, assessments, recovery plans, and missions.
    • Manage Corrective, Improvement, Development (CID) actions and industrial risks with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Monitor major industrial risks, changes (e.g., industrial transfers, planning adjustments), and design changes to protect Airbus operations.
    • Initiate and follow recovery plans with suppliers in case of delivery performance degradation to ensure compliance with Airbus requirements.
    • Ensure suppliers’ preventive/corrective action plans are managed and achieve expected results.
    • Prepare and support regular management reviews (e.g., PRM, Industrial Senior Management Meetings, Quality Supply Chain Meetings) to assess delivery and supply chain performance, ensuring continuous improvement actions.
  • Internal Stakeholder Management (20%):
    • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, such as MFT leaders, Programs, and Final Assembly Lines (FALs), including communication, meetings, and improvement actions.
  • Other Responsibilities (10%):
    • Complete required trainings.
    • Participate in special projects and stretch assignments.
    • Mentor new hires and support colleagues as needed.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
    • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a similar field.
  • Experience:
    • Required: Minimum of 6-8 years of professional experience in a procurement operations environment (e.g., monitoring, auditing, developing suppliers/operations) or equivalent.
    • Preferred: 10+ years of relevant professional experience. Aerospace industry and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Certifications:
    • Preferred: Green Belt/Black Belt certification, CPIM (Certified in Production & Inventory Management).
  • Skills and Capabilities:
    • Required:
      • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Quality Processes.
      • Fluent English (reading, speaking, writing, negotiation proficiency).
      • Ability to communicate at all levels within supplier organizations and Airbus to influence decision-making.
      • Ability to summarize complex industrial situations clearly.
      • Team player with excellent communication skills, customer-oriented mindset, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility.
    • Preferred:
      • Knowledge of Quality Regulations, Quality Core Tools, Practical Problem Solving, International Management System Standards, Authorities/Regulations/Standards, QMS, Auditing/Assessing, IPCA+, and CCP tools.
  • Travel: 50% domestic and international.
  • Citizenship: Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Organizational Context

The role is part of the Airbus Americas Procurement team, with internal customers primarily in the Procurement Operations Cabin organization in Europe and all Airbus Final Assembly Lines (FALs). The position involves managing complex, high-profile suppliers and requires daily communication and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders. The job holder will operate autonomously but is operationally driven by the Procurement commodity in Europe, with US-based management support and suppliers. Most internal customers are based in Europe.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and view a computer monitor for extended periods.
