Overnight Universal Direct Support Professional

About the role

The Arc Jefferson St Lawrence is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist in coordinating the people we support in various programs, promoting independence, integration, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating the people we support in residential, day habilitation, or community habilitation programs.
• Support people in managing household equipment, personal finances, and grocery shopping.
• Provide guidance and instruction in cleaning, domestic tasks, and maintaining physical plant safety.
• Arrange leisure activities and transportation for people we support.
• Document fire drills and communicate person’s supported and household supply needs to the Residence Manager.
• Participate in staff meetings and crisis intervention as needed.
• Implement and document ADL, interpersonal skill training, and behavioral support programs.
• Administer medications as directed by physicians' orders and maintain certification.
• Report and document any changes in the person's medical status.
• Attend to sleeping hours and needs of people we support.
• Perform daily cleaning duties and assist in other assigned tasks.
• Act as designated in charge in the absence of the Residence Manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Experience working with the Developmentally Disabled preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull in excess of 30 pounds.
• Valid New York State Driver’s License preferred.
