About the role
The Transport Driver plays a key role in transporting clients to needed care within and outside our contracted area. They are often the only in-person representative of the company, providing excellent customer service to facility staff, clients, and family members in a mental health setting.
Responsibilities
- Long- and short-distance driving, coordinating routes and schedules with dispatchers.
- Retrieve and secure clients and personal belongings for trips to destination facilities.
- Maintain a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and company policies, submitting monthly to Field Supervisor.
- Ensure mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected promptly, reporting defects, accidents, and violations immediately.
- Perform daily maintenance of the vehicle (refueling, cleaning, providing snacks/water, etc.).
- Interact with facility staff, clients, and family members in a professional manner.
- Address problems and create solutions, collaborating with Dispatcher and elevating problems to Field Supervisor when necessary.
- Enter data into the Samsara system, maintain logs of calls, incidents, miles driven, and more, submitting reports monthly to Field Supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Operations and Field Supervisors to update and maintain a list of facility contacts.
- Drive excellence by creating efficiencies to reduce transport arrival time (under the 2-hour maximum) and report all overages to Field Supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 26 years or older.
- Excellent driving record.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient in English (oral and written); active listener.
- Tech-savvy, good typing skills, and experience with data entry.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and flexible hours as needed.
- Ability to operate in highly stressful situations from both internal and external sources, adapting and making decisions as needed.
- Ability to multi-task, interpret ongoing problems, and suggest possible solutions.
Qualifications
Prior law enforcement, military, dispatch, logistics, or mental health experience is helpful but not required.
