About the role

Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates while touring stores and providing feedback. Communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, provides clear expectations, and guides teams to implement business solutions while communicating business objectives effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model.
  • Manages and supports customer service initiatives, such as store of the community and community outreach programs.
  • Ensures customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved; develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies.
  • Provides process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
  • Drives financial performance and sales by reviewing and evaluating Profit & Loss (P&L) statements.
  • Manages and assists in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses to ensure they are indexed to sales.
  • Monitors and ensures effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes.
  • Develops and implements action plans to mitigate shrink and ensure sales and profit goals are achieved.
  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, and setting clear expectations.
  • Ensures associate recognition, promotes a belonging mindset, and recruits and develops qualified associates to meet staffing needs.
  • Coordinates and oversees job-related activities by developing relationships with key stakeholders and supporting plans to meet customer and business needs.
  • Identifies and communicates goals and objectives, builds accountability, measures progress, and addresses improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Implements action plans, utilizes the Open Door Policy, and provides direction on applying these in executing business processes.
  • Fosters a culture of respect, collaboration, and integrity by building high-performing teams and maintaining ethical standards.
  • Attracts and retains talent, empowers and develops associates, and recognizes contributions and accomplishments.
  • Delivers results while prioritizing the customer, adapts to shopping behaviors, and applies EDLP (Every Day Low Price) and EDLC (Every Day Low Cost) business models.
  • Makes data-driven decisions, balances short- and long-term priorities, and considers stakeholders in planning.
  • Drives continuous improvement, adopts new technologies, and supports others through change.

Requirements

  • 2 years of college; OR
  • 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR
  • 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.

For facilities that sell firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required. For facilities that sell only ammunition with state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required. Associates must attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
  • General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.

Pay

The annual salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $100,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Regional Pay Zone (RPZ), Complex Structure, and state pay differentials may apply where applicable to meet legislative requirements.
