About the role

Ross is a leading off-price retail chain with over 2,200 stores and a strong track record of success and growth. As a Retail Associate, you will ensure customers have a positive shopping experience by greeting them courteously, maintaining a clean and organized store, and supporting operational and service goals. Associates are expected to perform a range of functions across all store areas as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers with eye contact, smiles, and a friendly “hello,” and thank them at every register transaction.
  • Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by practicing safe behaviors, keeping egress clear, and reporting unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Assist customers with merchandise, questions, and service calls in a polite and knowledgeable manner; escalate issues to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Adhere to company dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Execute daily sizing and recovery to company standards, ensuring a neat, clean, and well-merchandised store.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items per company presentation guidelines and maintaining brand familiarity.
  • Follow Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards; safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follow Mark-Out-of-Stock policies, including identifying, processing, and obtaining approval for disposals.
  • Follow policies and procedures for cash, check, charge card, refund, void, and offline transactions; maintain accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by executing store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.

Requirements

  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.

ADA Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds for stockroom shifts.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 – $17.00 per hour. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is one component of the total compensation package; other rewards vary by position and location.
