JOB SUMMARY
Ensure the safety and security of the hotel's guests, team members, property, and assets during overnight hours while also providing operational support to ensure the hotel runs efficiently throughout the night.

Serve as a key resource for all overnight hotel operations by maintaining a secure environment, responding to emergencies, and assisting guests.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols of the hotel, including guest floors, public areas, parking lots, loading docks, stairwells, and surrounding property.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems, responding promptly to suspicious activity or security concerns.
- Patrol guest room floors and public areas to identify and address unauthorized or unregistered individuals on property.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Respond to guest and team member requests for assistance, disturbances, emergencies, incidents, and security-related concerns.
- Assist with all overnight hotel operations as needed, providing support to all departments.
- Absorb and distribute requested amenities to guest rooms.
- Lock and unlock designated hotel areas in accordance with operational schedules and security procedures.
- Complete scheduled security rounds and daily operational checklists to verify the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the property.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the hotel to deter criminal activity, promote guest safety, and deliver exceptional hospitality.
- Congratulate and coordinate with local law enforcement, fire department, or emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overnight operation and ensure a safe, secure, and seamless guest experience.
Supportive Functions
- Assist with guest room lockouts, welfare checks, noise complaints, and other guest service requests as directed by hotel management.
- Prepare and distribute the Overnight Security Report, documenting patrols completed, guest interactions, incidents, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and operational updates for hotel leadership.
- Report accidents, incidents, injuries, property damage, and unusual occurrences through detailed incident reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Front Office Manager or Director of Front Office.
Requirements
- Specific Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete incident reports and operational documentation accurately.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities.
- Strong customer relations, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced ability for up to 8 hours in length.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to patrol the property.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing stairs, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.
Availability
- The company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
- This position will be scheduled for overnight shifts.
- At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Holidays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand.
- In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the amount of hours that you work.
- In accordance with Illinois law, the compensation and benefits for this position are as follows:
- Pay Range $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
- Compensation within this range will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and other job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
