About the Role
As a Reach Truck Operator at BJ’s Wholesale Club, you will play a vital role in replenishing empty bin locations with available stock and ensuring all inbound received product is properly stored. Your work will help keep our warehouse operations running smoothly, supporting our mission to help families save on what matters most.
Responsibilities
- Put away all product according to inventory control guidelines
- Cut shrink wrap from pallets after placing them in the proper bin locations
- Wrap pallets to ensure stability, check pallet conditions, and stack safely for transport
- Promptly report damage and all inventory discrepancies
- Maintain cleanliness and repair of dock and facility areas
- Uphold all food safety, housekeeping, and other applicable standards
- Replenish empty pick bins
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (college coursework, continuing technical education, or comparable business experience is a plus)
- Warehouse experience preferred
- Reach truck experience required
- Must pass operational fork truck test with 80% or better
- Ability to handle and prioritize requests from multiple sources
- Basic math skills to ensure proper height and counts per pallet and verify pallet ID numbers
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing PPE (e.g., fall protection harnesses)
- Ability to take directions using a headset selection system (e.g., VoCollect)
- Ability to accommodate flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Working Conditions
- Independently lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 100 lbs. occasionally
- Sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat frequently in a refrigerated warehouse environment
- Grasp, reach, push, or pull (e.g., boxes of product or hand trucks) frequently
- Work safely up to 36 feet in the air in the rack system to fix dumped pallets occasionally
- Build pallets up to 6 feet tall with case weights up to 50 pounds
- Endurance for continuous, fast-paced work
- Fluctuating temperatures, including freezing temperatures as low as -20°F in the perishable DC
- Wear appropriate PPE (e.g., steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, insulated clothing)
- Handle products that may contain food allergens (e.g., fish, shellfish, peanuts)
- Safely and accurately use equipment (e.g., computer, handheld tracker, scanners, radio headsets) after training
