About the role

The Operations Manager at Interstate Waste Services is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a single depot. They oversee personnel needs, execute safety measures, and interact with local agencies to ensure customer satisfaction and contract renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the depot and supports supervisors in achieving quality and budget performance.
  • Maintains and improves performance and productivity metrics, cost management processes, and safety protocols.
  • Oversees personnel needs including selection, coaching, disciplining, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Formulates short-term and long-term goals and action plans with the Site Manager and/or Director of Operations.
  • Participates in P&L reviews to ensure budgetary compliance and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, maintenance, and labor/material costs.
  • Works with local agencies to maintain customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new ones.
  • Resolves employee relations and labor relations issues within the department.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate degree (or equivalent) in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations.
  • Experience: 3 years of work experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations, with experience in coaching, routing assessments, and leading employees.
  • Skills: Experience in safety (OSHA) programs, equipment specifications, budget preparation, and labor relations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial, and human resources functions.
  • Ability to manage supervisory employees, including direct and indirect supervision of full-time employees.

Skills

  • Strong supervisory and managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in budget management and cost control.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Ability to resolve labor relations issues.

The company also offers a competitive salary range, with a minimum of USD $110,000.00/Yr. and a maximum of USD $150,000.00/Yr., and the potential for bonuses.
