Overnight Nurse Supervisor

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
• Minimum of one (1) year nursing service administration experience.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with personnel.
• Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

Physical Requirements

• Move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
• Work independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, visitors, personnel, and support agencies.
• Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
• Relate to and work with ill, disabled, young, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people.
• May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., throughout the day.
• Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including exposure to the (HIV) Aids and Hepatitis B viruses.

Essential Functions

• Handle walk-in visitors requesting a facility tour.
• Make facility rounds on each floor and lower level.
• Check outside grounds for cleanliness.
• Notify appropriate Department Heads regarding immediate concerns, communicate all other concerns to the Administrator.
• Report any incident regarding resident quality of care and equipment/building emergencies to the Administrator.
• May initiate discipline, to be reviewed by appropriate Department Head/Administrator, after investigating situation.
