About the role

As an Overnight Department Manager, you will own a department, focusing on maximizing its sales, inventory, and standards. You’ll impact the business daily by managing inventory, moving product in accordance with customer demand, reviewing and managing planograms and period layouts, and being commercial—knowing what’s trending to order merchandise daily and drive sales. You’ll monitor the local market to maintain a competitive advantage in price, product, and shopping experience, using data to understand your department’s performance, meet targets, and manage stock file accuracy.

As the leader of your department, you will hire, train, coach, and motivate a team of Sales Associates and Team Leaders to deliver an exceptional shopping experience for every customer and a positive work environment for every colleague.

Responsibilities

• Own and maximize sales, inventory, and standards for your department.
• Manage inventory and move product based on customer demand.
• Review and manage planograms and period layouts.
• Order merchandise daily to align with trends and drive sales.
• Monitor the local market to maintain a competitive edge in price, product, and shopping experience.
• Use data to track department performance, meet targets, and ensure stock file accuracy.
• Hire, train, coach, and motivate a team of Sales Associates and Team Leaders.
• Lead by example to deliver excellent store standards and customer service.
• Support store management in protecting people, property, and premises (e.g., securing cash, stock, and property).
• Serve as a keyholder, including availability for emergency call-outs.
• Manage difficult situations and solve problems effectively.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of retail leadership experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and adaptability to changing priorities.
• Experience as a Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or Department Manager.
• Ability to flex plans and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to relate to customers’ needs.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team, building confidence and enthusiasm.
• Resilience and confidence in giving constructive feedback.
• Commercial awareness, including understanding of local markets and competitors.
• Good planning and organizational skills, working within agreed timescales.
• Experience in protecting people, property, and premises (e.g., securing cash, stock, and property).
• Keyholder responsibility, including availability for emergency call-outs.
• Ability to manage difficult situations and solve problems effectively.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, to provide instruction, coaching, corrective action, safety instructions, and lead teams daily and in emergencies. Must also provide customer service in English, including oral communication with customers and monitoring the performance of English-speaking colleagues.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $66,300 - $72,800. This is a good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The base pay rate offered will account for internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
