Overnight Manager

About the role

This position is responsible for overseeing all operations within the hotel during the overnight shift, ensuring guest satisfaction, maintaining security, managing overnight staff, and acting as the primary point of contact for any issues that arise overnight.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property.
• Manage and monitor activities of all employees in the Front Office department/Overnight Staff, ensuring adherence to standards of excellence, hotel policies, and procedures; coach, train, and correct where needed.
• Maintain a professional and high-quality service-oriented environment at all times.
• Act as manager on duty for the hotel in the absence of the Front Office Manager, handling complaints, problem-solving, disturbances, special requests, and other issues.
• Manage the night shift, ensuring all employees perform assigned tasks and coordinate Front Office activities with other departments.
• Inform all overnight staff of nightly activities, group and VIP arrivals, special requests, and repeat guests.
• Exercise key control and process lost and found items.
• Conduct vehicle and foot patrols of the property.
• Conduct Fire Watch when needed.
• Promote safe work practices, including life safety inspections.
• Initiate preliminary investigations into incidents as needed.
• Write reports and ensure accuracy of necessary documentation.
• Respond to guest inquiries and requests, resolving issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major.
• 2 years’ experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.
• Intermediate knowledge of overall hotel operations.

Schedule

Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts.
