About the Role
Repairs and maintains general plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical equipment at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, La Jolla Shores Hotel, and Marine Room.
Responsibilities
- Perform all repairs and maintenance at the highest possible standards
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance duties including checking and changing belts and cleaning coils fans
- Maintain and repair all phases of HVAC equipment including changing faulty parts, patching leaks and evacuating
- Charge, troubleshoot and repair electrical components and controls
- Maintain the building's electrical system to keep property in a safe, balanced working condition according to standard codes
- Maintain interior and exterior lighting; patrol buildings and grounds each shift to repair or replace damaged fixtures and bulbs
- Service kitchen and laundry areas by unclogging drains, repairing plumbing, repairing mechanical equipment and appliances, and performing preventative maintenance
- Service guest rooms by repairing drapery hardware, furniture touch-up, painting, lamp repair, changing light bulbs, exchanging televisions, radios and air conditioners, plunging toilets, unclogging drains, and repairing hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment
- Maintain and service public areas by plunging toilets, unclogging drains, and repairing hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment
- Maintain and monitor Fire Alarm/Life Safety System; remain informed about system operation to handle emergencies
- Observe energy and utilities use and look for conservation opportunities; report ideas to the Engineering Director
- Clean, lubricate, protect and maintain all engineering tools and instruments; ensure tools are returned and secured
- Maintain open availability for emergencies; act quickly to return buildings to normal operating status
- Maintain skills and knowledge in pool maintenance
- Drive company vehicle (valid California Driver's license required)
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, short correspondence, blueprints and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in English to customers, managers, guests, and other employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Valid California Driver's License
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Frequently required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell
- Occasionally required to sit
- Constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions
- Regularly works in outside weather conditions
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places
- Frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat
- Responsible for taking actions to perform each task safely
- Noise level is usually moderate to loud
Pay
Hourly Rate $24.32

Schedule
This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed schedule as task assignments demand. Business needs determine the number of hours worked.
