Schedule
- 40 hours per week, Thursday–Monday, 11:30 PM–8:00 AM
- Essential position during weather emergencies
Pay
- $21.40–$30.00 per hour (based on relevant experience and skill set)
- Plus $2.00 shift-differential pay for every hour worked between 11:00 PM–7:00 AM
About the Role
The Guest Services Specialist (GSS) is an essential, 100% site-based position responsible for maintaining the guest-to-staff ratio. The GSS follows Pine Street Inn policies and procedures to ensure a safe shelter environment for guests and staff, with a primary focus on direct guest care. Responsibilities include responding to guests in a timely and professional manner, prioritizing guests’ needs, and assisting with the development and implementation of housing pathways by motivating guests to pursue housing and connecting them to appropriate resources.
The GSS also helps guests access substance abuse, mental health, and medical resources when the shelter cannot safely accommodate their needs. The role requires staying energized and focused under ambiguous and strenuous demands, making sound decisions, and seeking guidance from a supervisor when necessary. The GSS is responsible for entering data into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and documenting reports in accordance with agency policy.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the Human Services field
- High School diploma or GED
Qualifications
- Preferred: Valid MA driver’s license in good standing
- Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Preferred: Experience administering Narcan and CPR in a work setting
- Preferred: Knowledge in the areas of addiction, recovery, and mental illness
- Preferred: Knowledge of issues pertaining to the homeless
- Preferred: Knowledge of area resources
