Overnight Counselor - Full Time

About the role

The Overnight Counselor provides services to adults who have a diagnosis of mental illness and are living in a group home.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling
• Teach rehabilitation skills such as daily living skills, medication management, coping skills, crisis intervention, and prevention
• Maintain a healthy and clean environment for clients, including household tasks such as cleaning, inventory, and medication counts
• Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging
• Provide transportation to clients using the agency's vehicles
• Complete approximately 4 hours of tasks each night; remain available for clients during the night but may rest if it is quiet once tasks are finished

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability in helping others
• Experience working with people who have a diagnosis of mental illness or other human service experience (preferred but not required)
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• College classes in human services (preferred but not required)
• Valid and insurable driver's license (preferred but not required); agency vehicles are available for transporting clients
• Must have a personal vehicle for business use when not transporting clients

Pay

$21.46/hour ($44,636.80 annual equivalent plus prorated benefits).

Schedule

• Monday: 10:30 PM (awake overnight) until Tuesday at 8:30 AM
• Tuesday: 10:30 PM (awake overnight) until Wednesday at 8:30 AM
• Wednesday: 10:30 PM (awake overnight) until Thursday at 8:30 AM
• Thursday: 10:30 PM (awake overnight) until Friday at 8:30 AM
• Friday: Off starting at 8:30 AM
• Saturday: Off
• Sunday: Off

40 hours per week in a supportive work environment.
