About the role
This role is responsible for safely and accurately blending beverage products in a fast-moving manufacturing environment while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all food safety, food security, quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, allergen controls, hygiene, and other applicable regulations and company policies.
- Become certified in the operation of all blending equipment within the assigned area and operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of products blended on the lines by following specifications and verifying results with the quality department.
- Duplicate and communicate all safety and good manufacturing practices in accordance with company policy and support adherence to all company procedures.
- Support customer satisfaction by consistently producing and maintaining juice and beverage quality to required standards.
- Transport required ingredients and pre-weighed materials from the staging area to the blending area in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor and incorporate push-outs and Dump to Bulk (DTB) materials back into the system as required, ensuring correct handling and documentation.
- Connect hoses, pumps, and lines for bulk concentrate or juice and transfer product from the appropriate silo storage tanks to blend tanks.
- Build, assemble, and start up filters; open drums as needed and ensure all components are set up correctly for production.
- Inspect, monitor, and maintain filter blankets, checking daily for holes or damage, and wash new blankets as required.
- Program and operate touch screens to control product delivery from silo rooms to blend tanks, following blending schedules and instructions.
- Follow blending sheets carefully, add the correct ingredients in the proper sequence, and accurately record all amounts used.
- Obtain blend tank samples and deliver them to the quality laboratory for testing, following quality department instructions for any blending adjustments needed to bring product into specification.
- Complete blending sheets and all associated production records accurately and ensure they are forwarded to the QA/Blending department for review.
- Maintain continuous sanitation and cleanliness of the blending area throughout the shift, keeping equipment and workspaces organized and free of contamination.
- Perform Clean-in-Place (CIP) sanitation of all blending lines, tanks, and equipment according to schedules and procedures.
- Remove empty barrels and bins from the batching area and transport them to outside storage areas or trailers as required.
- Receive and unload tankers of bulk concentrates when needed, ensuring correct handling and documentation.
- Complete scheduled sanitation and line CIP activities in accordance with company policies and safety requirements.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, immediately report any non-compliance, product protection concerns, or food safety issues to management, and participate in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at all times while on duty.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support production and quality goals.
Essential Skills
- Experience working in a fast-moving packaged goods environment, preferably in beverage production.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes, including batching, blending, mixing, and general production activities.
- Knowledge of food safety principles, HACCP, GMPs, allergen controls, and hygiene practices in a food or beverage production environment.
- Solid comprehension of production scheduling and laboratory testing requirements to ensure products meet specifications.
- Sound general mathematical skills, including measurements, formulas, and calculations required for batching and blending.
- Ability to operate and monitor blending equipment, filters, pumps, hoses, and related production machinery.
- Capability to routinely lift up to 60 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with moving ingredients, barrels, and equipment.
- Ability to perform duties effectively in a high stress and high pressure production environment while maintaining accuracy and composure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English to interact with production, quality, and other departments.
- Commitment to quality improvement, efficiency gains, yield improvement, and reduction of out-of-specification or damaged product.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Beverage production experience is preferred, particularly in batch mixing, batch making, compounding, and blending operations.
- Formal training in WHMIS, HACCP, hygiene, or related safety and food safety programs is preferred.
- Relevant certification for production, blending, or safety may be required depending on site and role requirements.
- Experience with filtration processes, including filter blanket inspection, maintenance, and cleaning.
- Familiarity with viscosity control, mixing of chemical or food ingredients, and handling bulk concentrates.
- Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in general food production, including quality checks, documentation, and adherence to quality systems.
- Comfort working with touch screen controls and automated systems to manage product transfers and blending operations.
Work Environment
This position operates within a quality-focused manufacturing environment that supports beverage production. The role is primarily based in production and quality-related areas, including blending rooms and the broader manufacturing floor. Team members work around blending equipment, filters, pumps, hoses, silo storage systems, and automated touch screen controls. The environment is fast-paced and can be high pressure, with strict adherence to food safety, quality, and sanitation standards. Work involves regular physical activity, including lifting up to 60 lbs, moving barrels and bins, and handling bulk ingredients. Employees follow Good Manufacturing Practices, hygiene standards, and scheduled Clean-in-Place (CIP) sanitation procedures. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
