About the Role
Certified Nursing Assistants play a crucial role in providing care to clients in a residential treatment environment. They assist the nursing staff, monitor vital signs, administer medications, conduct safety checks, and perform various other tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the nursing staff in providing care to clients
- Taking client vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels
- Documenting readings as appropriate
- Maintaining clients' self-administration of medication and observing medical reactions
- Reporting any changes or concerns to nursing staff
- Conducting periodic dorm checks, client, and property searches
- Performing a variety of other tasks such as storing supplies, changing biohazard bags, answering telephones, photocopying, scanning and filing documents and forms
Requirements
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant
- Minimum 6 months related work experience as a nursing or medical assistant
- Current CPR certification
- Experience with adults/adolescents in a residential treatment center preferred
Physical Requirements
- Normal or corrected vision for reading thermometers, blood pressure gauges, blood sugar results, and evaluating symptoms and injuries
- Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands, and walk for up to two hours at a time
- Communication skills to gather and exchange information with clients and staff
- Ability to respond to telephone, pages, and intercoms, and hear speech
- Keyboard and video display terminal skills for data entry
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, if necessary, to assist clients
Pay and Schedule
The starting compensation range for this position is $16.93 - $23.16 per hour, with shift differential of $4 on weekdays and $5 on weekends and Sundays.
