About the role
Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury gaming resort located on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor. It features 671 hotel rooms with panoramic views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, an ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces.
Responsibilities
- Supports guest service in a Food and Beverage environment, transporting food from the kitchen to the guest(s).
- Sets, maintains, and clears guest tables.
- Takes an active role in the guest experience through tasks such as bread service, water and non-alcoholic drink service, coffee and tea service, and replacing silverware between courses.
- Communicates with host/hostess for seating needs and any guest service issues.
- Maintains health code standards and follows department and company safety standards.
- Performs immediate cleaning function of restaurant, floors, carpet, and service stations during business hours.
- Explains in detail all food items to the guest and assists the Gourmet Food Server with a number of supportive tasks.
- Lifts and maneuvers at least fifty (50) pounds and stands/walks for extended periods.
Requirements
- Age 21 or above.
- Must obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
- High school degree or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of food runner experience and sanitation knowledge preferred.
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail.
- Conversational English required, second language a plus.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
Qualifications
- Must have intimate familiarity with all menu items to ensure items that leave the kitchen are prepared accordingly and presented as planned.
- Must be able to communicate with host/hostess for seating needs and any guest service issues.
- Must maintain health code standards and follow department and company safety standards.
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in stressful and high-pressure situations.
- Must be familiar with service standards for the restaurant, especially table setups, beverage service, and pre-busing of tables.
- Must be able to organize and polish plates and serving utensils in the expeditor station.
- Must be able to perform various stock supply duties to maintain par levels of all equipment and dining supplies.
- Must work closely with the chef to prepare all garnish, underliners, and special plating setups.
- Must be able to transport all food items from the kitchen to the guest both through hand-carried technique or with trays when appropriate.
