Overhead Distribution - A Lineman Journeyman
About the role
We are currently seeking Journeyperson Lineperson to join our Utility Lines Construction Services, Inc. team in the Overhead Distribution Construction and Maintenance to assist with construction and maintenance of overhead.
Responsibilities
- Works from aerial device installing and repairing overhead distribution lines and equipment
- Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification
- Makes primary connections and terminations
- Aids in assembling material on the ground to be installed by lineperson and assists with the installation
- Makes secondary connections at transformers
- Aids in pulling in new wire and sagging
- Aids in replacing and setting new poles
- Works from the ground and clears all work areas to maintain safe job site conditions
- Communicates with the public and private property owners regarding the work to be performed
- Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies
- Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, drills, come-along, jackhammer, power tamp, and handling, etc.)
- Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chainsaws, and other equipment with proper hearing protection
- Works around hazardous and near energized parts or equipment
- All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Familiar with building two and three transformer bank poles
- Able to: work with hands above head for extended periods of time, meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by truck manufacturers, safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick truck, effectively cover up to safely complete work on energized lines, and equipment, work efficiently and effectively from heights, follow directions, work safely & productively, work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc.

Pre-Screen
Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
Licenses & Certifications
- DOT medical card is required within 90 days of employment
- Valid commercial driver's license preferred within 90 days of employment
- A Valid Driver's License is required
Travel Requirements
Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
