Safety Focus
Safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to move, position, and stage steel materials and fabricated components throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to move steel plates, structural components, assemblies, and materials throughout the facility.
- Position and stage materials to support fabrication, fitting, welding, and production activities.
- Inspect cranes, rigging, lifting devices, and equipment before use to ensure safe operation.
- Follow hand signals, radio communications, and verbal instructions from spotters, supervisors, and production personnel.
- Absorb loads and ensure materials are properly secured before lifting or moving.
- Complete routine equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of overhead crane, industrial equipment, heavy equipment, or material handling experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Basic knowledge of rigging practices, load control, and safe lifting procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members, spotters, and supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work at elevated heights when required.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated work areas.
- Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces as needed.
- Ability to frequently kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, and stand throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment as required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures depending on the work area.
- Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness in a busy production environment.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays based on production needs.
