Responsibilities

  • Perform semi-skilled work in shops required to maintain aircraft, engines, and components, including cabin-related tasks.
  • Accomplish wet fiberglass lay-ups.
  • Use general air tools (e.g., paint guns, sanders, high-speed tools) and specialized industrial equipment (e.g., blasters, flow-thru washers, down-draft tables, de-rivet machines).
  • Remove and/or repair lavatories, galleys, airplane seats, aircraft carpets, seat fabrics, cabin windows, floorboards, sidewall panels, and ceiling panels.
  • Perform painting, stripping, and taping in hangar operations.
  • Fabricate airplane parts and components.
  • Lubricate airplane parts and components.
  • Sign for the quality of own workmanship and complete forms connected to work assignments.
  • Assist management with tasks such as using basic hand tools (calibrated tooling), addressing compressed air hazards, creating and responding to shop/work orders, and maintaining knowledge of repair manuals and tech data.
  • Use equipment and tools needed for repairs, including basic hand tools (e.g., tape measurer, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers) and specialized industrial equipment (e.g., wheel blasters).
  • Operate lifting equipment, including manipulators, hoists, and lift tables.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, coveralls, hearing protection, safety glasses, and close-toed footwear.
  • Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks, clean aircraft windshields, and maintain a clean work area.
  • Adhere to government regulations (e.g., DOT, FAA, TSA) and company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Work according to supervisor’s or Crew Chief’s instructions.
  • Use computers and other relevant electronic systems to complete work.
  • Coordinate with other employees and stakeholders to accomplish tasks.
  • Report to position on time, including varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Complete and maintain job-relevant and/or assigned trainings.

Work Conditions

  • Perform duties in extreme environmental conditions, including extreme heat (over 100° Fahrenheit), extreme cold (below 32° Fahrenheit), rain, sleet, wind, and snow.
  • Work in areas with general safety awareness (e.g., moving vehicles).
  • Perform duties in dirty conditions (e.g., dirt, dust, grime).
  • Maneuver into confined, tight, or awkward spaces (e.g., galleys, lavatories) to make repairs.
  • Lift heavy and/or bulky airplane parts, including aircraft seats, lavatories, galleys, flight controls, wheels, and brakes.
  • Complete repairs requiring repetitive motions (e.g., sanding).

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid A and/or P license or certificate of completion or equivalent from a relevant, accredited trade school and six (6) months of relevant experience, or twelve (12) months of verified, hands-on experience in a maintenance-related field.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels within the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to operate mobile scissor lifts and/or boom lifts.
  • Experience working from heights and using OSHA fall protection where required.

Skills & Certifications

  • Use of basic hand tools (e.g., calibrated tooling).
  • Knowledge of repair manuals and technical data.
  • Proficiency with equipment and tools for repairs, including basic hand tools and specialized industrial equipment.
  • Ability to operate lifting equipment (e.g., manipulators, hoists, lift tables).
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
