Job Summary
We are seeking a driven, self-starting Outside Sales Representative with a true hunter mentality to grow our book of business throughout Florida.
Key Responsibilities
- Possess the ability to prospect, generate new business through cold calls, in-person visits, referrals, and networking.
- Conduct in-person sales calls and face-to-face meetings with restaurants, chefs, supermarkets, hotels, and foodservice accounts.
- Own the full sales cycle – prospecting, qualifying, presenting, negotiating, and closing new accounts.
- Build and manage a territory pipeline, consistently developing and converting leads.
- Present and sell fresh and frozen seafood products, including pricing, specs, and product education.
- Maintain consistent contact with accounts – driving satisfaction, resolving issues, and upselling.
- Track sales activity, pipeline, and customer data using reporting tools and spreadsheets.
- Represent Boston Wholesale Seafood professionally at customer sites and in all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Hunter mentality – proactive, competitive, and motivated to open new accounts.
- Self-starter able to work independently and manage a field schedule with minimal supervision.
- Strong prospecting, lead-generation, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Prior outbound and field sales experience, ideally in food service, seafood, meat, or produce.
- Comfortable with in-person, face-to-face selling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, spreadsheets (Excel), and general computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable personal vehicle for daily travel throughout the assigned territory.
- Professional communication and customer service abilities.
- Willingness to travel throughout the state of Florida.
Preferred Experience
- Spanish-speaking ability (preferred, but open to all qualified candidates).
- Hospitality background – chef, kitchen, or restaurant management experience.
- Experience selling seafood or other perishable food products.
- Established relationships with restaurants, chefs, supermarkets, or specialty foodservice.
- Track record of growing a territory or book of business year over year.
- Experience working with a wholesale distributor or broadline foodservice company.
- Knowledge of fresh and frozen seafood species, cuts, grades, and pricing.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Field-based role with daily customer visits across Florida.
- Open or flexible availability; early mornings, late evenings, or weekends may be required to align with customer needs.
- Occasional exposure to refrigerated, freezer, and warehouse environments.
- Ability to lift and carry product samples up to 45 lbs. as needed.
- Standing, walking, and driving for extended periods throughout the workday.
Compensation & Schedule
- Compensation: Fixed base salary, based on experience + Variable commission tied to sales performance.
- Schedule: Full-time position with open/flexible availability to serve customer needs.
- In-person, field-based work throughout the assigned Florida territory.
