Outside Sales Representative (Demand Creation)
As a Representative in Outside Sales, you will develop new prospects and interact with assigned customers to increase sales and margin of the company’s products and/or services. Your primary focus will be face-to-face selling and account management activities to meet sales revenue goals. You will engage with all levels of customers’ organizations, including technical, operations, supply chain, and executive management. You may also develop and deliver sales bids, presentations, proposals, and/or product demonstrations.
Responsibilities
- Assess customer needs and suggest products, services, and/or solutions to ensure a smooth sales process.
- Execute and expand assigned customer account plan(s) developed in conjunction with management.
- Drive billing margin initiatives through value-added services, marketing programs, and supplier engagement.
- Prospect potential customers, including cold calling and developing leads through referral channels.
- Communicate with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; suggest products and services to meet those needs.
- Demonstrate the functions and utility of products or services based on customer needs.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolve post-sale issues.
- Maintain communication with existing and previous customers regarding new products, services, and enhancements.
- Utilize sales management tools for sales planning, supplier planning, and documenting opportunities.
- Develop and grow product knowledge through Wesco and supplier training.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, including performing regular joint sales calls.
- Provide quotations directly or in conjunction with the sales support team.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Prior sales experience required; outside sales experience preferred.
- Two years of industry experience preferred.
- Ability to travel to current and potential clients and suppliers (50% - 75% of the time).
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques (preferred).
Working Environment
Work is generally performed in an office environment, but travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities is required. Driving may be required for extended periods with frequent stops and starts. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions may occur.
Pay
$76,326 - $99,223 annually. This amount reflects the expected pay range for the position but may vary based on factors such as geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or collective bargaining agreements. Eligible positions may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, with additional commission-based compensation for sales roles.
