Responsibilities
- Establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedules to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
- Focus sales efforts by studying the existing and potential volume of accounts.
- Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
- Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses.
- Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel.
- Submit activity and results reports such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- Stay up to date on trends by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
- Recommend changes in products, services, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to the management team.
- Attend and participate in sales and district meetings.
- Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and client; collect all balances due based on approved credit terms.
- Manage deliveries to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order process (out-of-stock items, special order items, low inventory, etc.).
- Review and analyze daily and weekly reports such as special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data.
- Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.
Requirements
- 2 years of outside business-to-business sales experience in the Food and/or Produce Industry.
- High school diploma required.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Basic pc skills, proficiency in Excel, experience with MS Outlook.
- Must pass pre-employment Background and Drug screen testing.
- Must live in the Houston area.
Physical Demand/Work Conditions
- The employee is regularly required to drive, sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
