About the role
The Walling Company is an industry leader in solution-based fluid handling solutions and other industrial equipment sourcing, serving the manufacturing sector since 1943. They represent leading manufacturers of industrial equipment in multiple states and have offices in Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas, specializing in service and repair of mechanical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Increase sales volume with both new and existing Walling Company products and services within the territory, focusing on achieving budget goals.
- Communicate with existing customers and manage accounts to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Develop and present value propositions to existing customers, partnering with colleagues in Customer Service, Accounting, and Finance to provide the best customer service possible.
- Interact with leadership to achieve sales goals and grow awareness of The Walling Company's products and services.
- Create detailed price quotes and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Create and deliver training and other solutions to external customers.
- Forecast sales and develop the growth of The Walling Company's products and services in the territory.
- Complete and update sales-related paperwork and reporting systems.
- Maintain relationships with plants servicing customers in the assigned territory, product area, or accounts.
- Participate in trade shows to support vendor and Walling Company sales.
- Be willing to travel and stay overnight as needed within the territory and various trade show locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of industrial sales experience, preferably in the manufacturing business.
- Experience with industrial pumps and rotating equipment.
- A solid understanding of local area networking and territory management concepts and standards.
- A basic understanding of mechanical equipment.
- A willingness and desire to win and support The Walling Company team through sales and service of its products.
- A strong customer focus, self-motivation, high initiative, self-direction, attention to details, achievement orientation, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel by vehicle daily and overnight 15%-30% in the U.S. assigned territory as needed to meet growth and customer needs.
