Outside Sales Rep

About the role

As an Outside Sales Representative for Trench Safety at United Rentals, you will be the primary contact for customers seeking underground trench safety equipment rental and supplies. You will serve contract companies and non-building, industrial, and commercial building contractors, driving sales growth and delivering exceptional customer service within a defined geographical territory.

Responsibilities

• Maximize revenue from facilities and construction sites in your assigned territory.
• Maintain and develop relationships with existing customers and their subsidiary companies as their single point of contact.
• Demonstrate and train customers on available trench safety products.
• Call potential customers to schedule demonstrations and on-site visits.
• Prepare sales action plans and strategies to drive growth.
• Collaborate with general rentals representatives to promote cross-selling opportunities.
• Instruct Competent Person Training and Confined Space Training classes.
• Install equipment and assist personnel with installations as needed.
• Utilize Sales Force.com and other CRM tools to develop and track sales opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.
• Three years of sales experience.
• Strong planning, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Diligent attention to safety.
• Certification in Competent Person Training and Confined Space.
• Knowledge of construction, trench safety, or related equipment is preferred, though candidates with comparable industry experience, strong sales acumen, and a proven record of achievement will be considered.
• A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

This role is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Pay

This role includes a base salary and monthly commissions based on performance. A minimum monthly guarantee incentive is provided during the onboarding and learning process.
