About the role
The Outside Salesperson – Pump Division is a key team member at HD Fowler. This position involves outside sales activities in the assigned territory and department, including working with contractors, municipalities, and potential customers. The role also requires participation in various product applications and maintaining an effective account portfolio.
Responsibilities
- All outside sales contact with relevant contractors, municipalities, and other potential customers.
- A systematic approach to customer contact, providing high-quality service.
- Participation in all Pump Division product applications, including Onsite septic, Groundwater, Well Drilling, Water & Wastewater Treatment, and Engineered products.
- Contact with onsite septic designers/regulators and State/County registered installers/service providers.
- Maintain an effective account portfolio and territory plan, including customer information, sales and margin targets, and individual account strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procedures and reports.
- Increase sales volume and margin, assist in the budgeting process, and demonstrate fiscal and resource responsibility.
- Work and communicate effectively with all support branch personnel, developing market strategies, growing markets, serving customers, and addressing issues.
- Assist in basic branch tasks as needed, including training.

Requirements
- Sales experience required; outside and inside experience may be considered.
- Solid sales professional skillset and understanding of business concepts.
- Strong relevant product and material application knowledge.
- Able to interact positively with all types of coworkers and customers.
- Able to operate in a high-paced, demanding environment under a variety of conditions.
- Able to operate within and prioritize under tight deadlines.
- Able to work overtime when necessary and/or required; able to travel and be away from home some nights in order to effectively service your territory.
- Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record; ability to drive throughout territory and to fulfill sales responsibilities.
- Must reside within the territory.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
