Outside Sales Consultant
RLG is seeking an Outside Sales Consultant to drive the growth of our pharmaceutical and healthcare solutions portfolio by securing new clients and forging strong, lasting relationships with existing ones.
About the role
The Outside Sales Consultant will identify new business opportunities, negotiate and close deals, and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions. You will sell RLG Healthcare services, including pharmaceutical commercial printing and packaging, sheetfed (UV & conventional) offset printing, flexo, direct mail, fulfillment and kitting, digital, print-on-demand, and technology-related solutions. You will also have the opportunity to sell into the broader RLG network, which includes pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, and sustainable product solutions.
An ideal candidate will be located in the Northeastern United States (NJ, NY, CT, Eastern PA) and able to travel within a diverse territory. Compensation includes an annual base salary plus commission, with total earnings varying based on individual performance and sales targets.
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and engage prospective clients using industry ads, trade shows, and digital platforms.
- Balance prospecting for long-term opportunities with short-term incremental business wins.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to expand our footprint with existing clients while maintaining exceptional service.
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients and RLG Healthcare, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery.
- Craft and deliver compelling presentations and conduct site tours to showcase capabilities and innovations.
- Manage the RFP process, coordinate internal teams for competitive quotes and contracts, and oversee implementation.
- Provide insightful reports on market trends, customer feedback, and industry challenges to inform strategy.
- Maintain meticulous records of sales activities and client interactions in Salesforce CRM.
- Organize and participate in customer training and quarterly business reviews to ensure satisfaction.
- Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in new business development and account management (small and large accounts) with a focus on pharmaceutical, healthcare, nutraceutical, and food industries.
- Experience with longer-selling cycles in a B2B environment is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 3-5 years of outside B2B sales experience in packaging, printing, or direct marketing.
- Exceptional interpersonal, persuasion, and communication skills, capable of engaging at all organizational levels.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Proficient in competitive market analysis and adept at navigating industry trends.
- Advanced computer skills and familiarity with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.
- Required to travel within the assigned territory; valid driver’s license necessary.
