About the Opportunity
The Outside Property Claim Representative role focuses on managing first-party property claims of moderate severity and complexity within the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area. This position is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and negotiating claims to achieve optimal resolutions, contributing directly to customer satisfaction and the organization's claims management effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Handle first-party property claims including investigation, evaluation, and negotiation
- Conduct field inspections, document damages with photographs and estimates
- Utilize technology for claims processing
- Analyze coverage, liability, and damages including business interruption calculations
- Establish and maintain accurate claim and expense reserves
- Determine settlement amounts through various estimations and validations
- Negotiate settlements within authority limits
- Prepare denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and complex correspondence
- Manage claims file activities and maintain compliance with procedures and regulations
- Provide customer service to insureds, agents, and internal partners
- Refer claims to special investigations or subrogation units as appropriate
- Assist with multiple lines of business as needed
- Mentor and coach less experienced claim professionals
- Participate in legal proceedings such as depositions and mediations as required
- Engage in catastrophe response deployments when needed
- Maintain required licenses and certifications
- Perform physically demanding duties including inspections requiring climbing and carrying equipment
Requirements
- Residence or willingness to relocate to Northern Virginia or Washington, DC area
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary insurance licenses within three months
- Physical capability to perform field inspections including climbing ladders and accessing tight spaces
- Experience in claims handling, investigation, and negotiation
Pay
Salary range: $67,000.00 to $110,600.00 annually. Eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards. Position eligible for a sign-on bonus.
