About the role
As an Outside Plant Engineer at Verizon, you will manage a variety of internal and external partners and vendors to oversee OSP/ISP construction and maintenance of network extension projects to deliver fiber to new and existing customers. Your vital role will ensure that these multi-stakeholder, complex projects are delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Manage all engineering and construction activities of assigned projects associated with expanding and maintaining the OSP network infrastructure.
- Lead engineering efforts on multiple projects, driving productivity through use of vendor resources to meet deliverables.
- Engage appropriate internal and external organizations and individuals with good written/verbal communications to accomplish required tasks with focus on quality and speed to market.
- Cook up project activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.
- Propose solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
- Analyze implications of changes from the original schedule and take required corrective actions to ensure the project stays on track.
- Recognize vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and make intelligent decisions to ensure reliability within financial constraints.
- Prepare detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.
- Process reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.
- Perform field meetings, inspection of construction in progress, and quality control of final product to ensure company requirements are met.
- Communicate project status and progress to team members and customers.
- Respond immediately to network outages, coordinate necessary resources and activities for prompt and appropriate restoration.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
- Valid Driver's license. Additional qualifications may include:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
- Experience in CAD, 3GIS, ARCGIS, Google Earth or other mapping and drafting software.
- Experience in using Google Workspace suite, including tools such as Drive, Gmail, Meet, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Experience in corporate data and reporting platforms (Tableau, Cheetah, or others).

- You know a lot about outside plant engineering practices and enjoy analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions.

- You are a strong communicator, able to quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand.

Pay
$82,000.00 - $134,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule.
Schedule
This is a hybrid role with a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager.
