About the role
The Parts & Service Outside Sales Representative plays a crucial role in providing parts and service solutions to wholesale and fleet customers in the customer’s place of business. With a focus on building long-term relationships, this position involves responding to customer needs, identifying sales opportunities, and selling additional parts and service.
Responsibilities
- Provide parts needs to wholesale and fleet customers in their place of business.
- Promote service available through the service department.
- Get to know the customer, the customer's business, and the needs of that business.
- Respond to customer parts/service or information requests quickly.
- Identify sales opportunities, prospect for new business, and sell additional parts and service to customers.
- Address the customers' parts and service needs, respond to information inquiries.
- Provide parts to customers from stock, procure locally, or create a parts order as directed.
- Identify customer needs and opportunities that will produce additional sales.
- Possess the ability to prospect for new Parts & Service Department customers through phone solicitation.
- Support activities for dealership customer satisfaction and concern resolution programs.
- Support at customer inventory or other sales and marketing programs.
- Perform other duties as business needs require.
Requirements
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2-4+ years of experienced in parts sales.
- Experience with heavy duty truck parts required.
- Experience with customer needs assessment and satisfaction, knowledge of methods for showing as well as promoting and selling products or services.
- Knowledge of heavy duty truck parts and equipment.
- Professional and safety-minded at all times.
- Dependable, motivated, and a quick learner.
- Excellent communication both verbally and in writing, listening skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and direction.
Skills
- Knowledge of heavy duty truck parts and equipment.

Job Conditions
- Physical Demands: Requires standing, bending, stretching, use of a telephone and manipulating a computer keyboard. Some heavy lifting.
- Environmental Demands: Indoor and outdoor work. Some noise while working around operation departments. Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
- Hours: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM. Additional hours may be required for special events.
