Outreach Specialist for Highway Technician Certification Program
University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a full-time Outreach Specialist to support the Highway Technician Certification Program (HTCP). This role serves as the primary point of contact for the program, coordinating customer support, event planning, and administrative functions statewide.
About the role
The Outreach Specialist works collaboratively with departments, state agencies, and the public to ensure smooth program operations. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position with a starting salary of $47,000.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program inquiries (phone, email, in-person), registrations, and troubleshooting assistance, including customer login/authenticator issues.
- Ensure compliance with credit card transaction standards and complete annual program certification.
- Manage procurement and office supplies.
- Act as the program’s Salesforce superuser, maintaining data accuracy, reporting, and system functionality while providing customer service to HTCP clients and staff.
- Handle financial reconciliation, deposit management, and travel expense reporting.
- Coordinate HTCP events, providing support to instructional staff, internal teams, and subject matter experts.
- Generate reports for WisDOT and other requestors.
- Develop and manage contracts for over 50 HTCP instructional staff and subject matter experts within Salesforce.
- Coordinate new hire setup with Human Resources and manage exam proctoring.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in administrative support, program coordination, or customer service in a professional office setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Experience with registration systems, customer service platforms (e.g., Salesforce), or learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), including troubleshooting.
- Experience handling financial transactions, including credit card processing and reconciliation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with event planning or coordination.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
